A. Fire rated access doors

This kind of access door are specifically created to follow the right fire safety regulations. If there are openings in the walls and ceiling it can cause more damage when there is a fire. This is one of the reasons why you need to have an air tight door that can prevent drafts. The fire rated access doors can seal HVAC elements, electrical wiring, flammable materials, exhaust systems and gas lines.

The fire rated access door can really conceal all of these elements and even prevent smoke, flames and heat. Thick galvanized steel, smoke proof gasketing and mineral wool insulation are examples of the materials that they use to make fire rated doors. This is great if your indoor space is exposed to air flow outdoors since this kind of access door has airtight gasketing and heavy duty steel.

B. General purpose access doors

This type of access doors should can be installed outdoors and indoors. You can install general access doors on ceiling and walls. They have flush latch, recessed frames and concealed hinges. You need to use general purpose access doors if you do not need to follow fire codes or high value items.

Some examples of general purpose doors are doors with weatherproof gaskets, temeperature controlled doors, draft resistant doors, and removable doors. But, this type of access door does not require the fire code.

C. Drywall access doors

A lot of commercial and residential houses are made up of drywall. Drywall access doors will reseal the walls and maintain its discreet features, flush frames and paint finishes.
